You Cannot Be Too Careful, Can You?

Nobody's saying that all travellers
are trouble-makers.
Nobody's saying that all Muslims
are terrorists.
Nobody's saying that all foreigners
are inferior.

And no-one's saying that all
socialists are unpatriotic liars.
And no-one's saying that all
homosexuals are perverts.
And no-one's saying that all
disabled people are scroungers.
And no-one's saying that all
schizophrenics should be locked up,
or sterilised, or put out of their misery.

Are you thinking what I'm thinking?

Tony’s Cronies

Tony's cronies, the honoured few
Broke the rules, but back anew.
Mystic Mandy, resigned twice.
Off to Europe, cock up thrice?

Pants down David, he'll be back
Once resolved, his Fortier spat.
'Love child, affair', political death?
'No he's blind, it matters less'.

Tessa Jowell, arms dealing hubby
Flogs planes to Iran, and powerful lobby
For Formula One, 'exempt ciggie ban'.
A £1 million donation Labour scam.

War on Iraq, backbenchers protest
'45 minutes, we're not in jest'.
Parliament convinced, thousands die.
Radio 4 claims, 'sexed up lie'.

Kelly dies, No one to blame.
Except BBC, Hoon still in the game.
Alastair 'loony' Campbell goes,
And now reborn, in mentor's clothes

Principled ministers, forced to quit.
His majesty Tony, 'don't argue, damn it!'
Mo Mowlam, Claire Short, and Robin Cook
Political wilderness, now write a book.

Gordie, also betrayed by Blair
Waits in the wings, leadership despair.
While opposition fail to muster
A vote winning chief, and Labour buster.

So here we are, election campaign
Labour will break out the champagne
"Better the devil we know old chums!"
Our brains, four more years are numbed.

PARTLY POLITICAL

Image switching; bitching;

Escalation and intimidation –

Procrastination rules

A nation of fools.

Turn on the heat, meet

Deadlines, hit headlines,

Sing and dance –

Take a chance.

Trust in the Lord: bored

Punters change tracks; axe

Any poor swine

Who doesn’t toe the Party line.
DON'T BE A RAVING LOONEY

Veritas, I say unto you

U kip if you want
But I'll be voting on Thursday.

I knew Labour
But New Labour
I don't.

Applied Cymru
But got rejected

And Scots (g)Nats
Get up my kilt!

As far as I'm concerned
Kilroy is nowhere

And it's the same old pattern
From Paisley.

Greens make me see red
Turning up out of the blue
In their 4-wheel drives.

Father voted for Liberal democracy
But never knew Charles Kennedy

And B n' P
Sounds like F'ing and blinding

So I'll settle for no lies
Just Cons.

Trusting in Politics

The words were slow
Easy action
not pump
not even
semi-automatic
Conflict had honed
them into
incendiaries
of lies
to be placed
strategically
with a price
on their head
Timed
to go off
to perfection
with just the
right amount of
spin
to place the detail
amongst the most
vulnerable
Night sight eyes
pierce personal
armour
and gaze into the
abyss of the soul
Beyond the doors
of misconception
in a darkened room
lives an iota
of truth
just waiting
to be born
to the new believers
in democracy
And some say
belief in god
is a leap of faith!

Sixty years.

Blood soaked the soil, and stained the walls
Children snuffed by the bombs of war
60 years since the freedom fight
Democracy, now a fallacy? freedom, now trite?

Soldiers, cut down in their prime
Jews slaughtered in the world’s worst crime
60 years of moving on.
Where did it all go wrong?

We have elections, in the name of what?
Blair made sure democracy rots
60 years to learn from mistakes
But now we’re like a Fascist state

ID cards and election fraud
Pre-empting wars, voters ignored
60 years of the United Nations
Blown apart by Bush’s motions.

On May 5 we cross our box
Does anyone really give a f***?
60 years of increasing corruption
Apathy sinks in, we have no options.

Vote for the Throat

Who is inciting?
Who is inviting?
Who is just writing
His name on the wall?

Who is the faster?
Who is the master?
Who's a disaster
For one and for all?

Who gets most hisses?
Who gets near misses?
Who gets the kisses
In most village halls?

Take the Michael - no prize,
Look a Charlie - in the eyes,
Win a Tony - with lies,
In this lottery drum full of balls.
